About our Project...

A team of researchers is examining how our surroundings are related to the scheduling, duration, and variety of physical activities we engage in on a daily basis.

We are recruiting 400 volunteers in Montgomery County, Maryland from five different neighborhoods. Each participant will be interviewed about his/her neighborhood and given an activity meter and pocket-sized diary to track physical activity over a seven day period. To see if you live in a qualifying neighborhood please click here.

This study is being conducted by Dr. Daniel Rodriguez at the University of North Carolina and Kelly Clifton at the University of Maryland, along with a team of researchers from both universities. The study is being funded by Active Living Research, a national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
