Smart Growth Leadership Alumni Reunion

Leaders who participated in any of the previous Maryland or National Smart Growth Leadership courses offered by the National Center for Smart Growth Research and Education were invited to join us for the first Maryland Smart Growth Leadership Program Alumni Reunion. This full-day meeting was held Friday, November 7, 2003.

The agenda allowed course graduates to explore new developments in the field of Smart Growth nationally and internationally, allowed for an exchange of information about how Smart Growth is (or is not!) a factor in their own jurisdictions or jobs, and drew from their perspectives guidance on the Center's direction for future education, training and research programs. Graduates detailed the most successful applications of the Smart Growth concepts that they learned through the Maryland Smart Growth Leadership Program. Participants also received a briefing by Reid Ewing concerning his recent study measuring the health effects of sprawl.
