May 26, 2006 - Day One

TOD in Action:The argument for TOD and its success around the world First outlining the need for transit oriented development in China to combat rising congestion, threats to economic development and stability, the workshop aims to instill a fundamental understanding of TOD in its participants. Exploring international case studies will also introduce the relationship between TOD, public finance, the private sector and urban management.

 

May 27, 2006 - Day Two

The Role of TOD in Regional Planning: International Comparisons and TOD in Shanghai Day two of the workshop will consist of morning discussion of TOD and bus rapid transit and high-speed rail in a number of successful foreign cities. Scholars previously working on TOD in Shanghai will share their findings as a precursor to an afternoon site visit to sites around the Shanghai municipality where TOD is already underway.

 

May 28, 2006 - Day Three

Addressing China¡¯s Challenges: Looking to the Future In the final morning¡¯s discussion, experts will field questions from participants, addressing individual cases. The workshop will conclude with the underlying theme of TOD in China.
